Please note that shipping will begin in early June. - Tamami Iinuma’s photobook Salut, Mr Bruno Taut presents a series of 40 photographs of “Siedlungen” (housing estates) designed by Bruno Taut, taken between 2010 and 2014 in Berlin and Magdeburg, Germany. After moving to Berlin in 2008, Iinuma began visiting these buildings, scattered across the outskirts of the city, and gradually accumulated photographs of them. This process recalls her childhood memory of travelling by train during summer holidays, absorbed in stamp rallies. Through this work, she came to consider the potential of photography to capture historical narratives, treating architecture as a medium in itself. At the outset of the project, she used a Mamiya RZ67 camera, typically associated with studio portrait photography. This choice reflects her perception of buildings as entities equivalent to human subjects. However, in Berlin’s sub-zero climate, recurring issues such as film condensation and development problems led her to gradually transition to digital photography. As she continued to reflect on the passage of time and memory, transhistorical relationships, and the distance between Tokyo and Berlin, she turned her attention to the motif of “thread” as a symbol of connection. This concept ultimately informed the book’s distinctive binding. The publication also includes two texts: “Dear Bruno Taut”, written by Tamami Iinuma, and a newly commissioned essay, “The Colours of Bruno Taut and the Gaze of Tamami Iinuma”, by critic Thibaut de Ruyter. - 飯沼珠実写真集『Salut, Mr Bruno Taut』は、ブルーノ・タウト設計による「ジードルング（Siedlung / 集合住宅）」を被写体に、2010 年から 2014 年にドイツ・ベルリンおよびマクデブルクで撮影された写真 40 点を収録します。 2008 年にベルリンへ移住した飯沼は、市内の外れに点在する建物を訪ね、写真を撮りためていきました。それは小学生のころ、夏休みに電車に乗ってスタンプラリーに夢中になった記憶と重なります。この撮影を通して、建築をひとつのメディアとして、歴史のナラティブを写真で掬いとる ことの可能性について考えるようになりました。 撮影開始の当初は、スタジオポートレートで用いられることの多いカメラ「Mamiya RZ67」を使用していました。これは、飯沼にとって建物が人物に等しい存在であるという感覚によるものです。しかし、氷点下のベルリンではフィルムの結露による不良や現像トラブルが重なり、次第にデジタルへと移行していきました。 流れた時間と記憶、時代を超えた関係性、東京とベルリンの距離について思考を重ねるなかで、その「つながり」の象徴として「糸」に着目し、本書の特徴的な製本へと至っています。 本書は、あわせて 2 本のテキスト、飯沼珠実による「親愛なるブルーノ・タウト様」と、批評家ティボー・ドゥ・ルイテールによる書き下ろし「ブルーノ・タウトの色彩と飯沼珠実の眼差し」を収録します。 - Salut, Mr Bruno Taut Photographs Tamami Iinuma Design Kenta Shibano H191 x W144mm, 64p., 40 photographs Nissha Digital Printing, Saddle Stitch Binding (Thompson die-cut) Publisher House of Architecture and Lubok Verlag ISBN 978-4-9911475-5-5 *Please note that you understood that customs duty may be charged on your side for international delivery.
